Welcome to the Irish Health & Social Care Data Dictionary Development Website Version 1.

As the HSCDD evolves it will contain information about shared standards including a descriptive list of names, definitions, and properties of singular terms to be collected in an information system or database in the health & social service sector in Ireland. By standardising definitions and ensuring consistency of use, the HSCDD will enable conforming and comparable health information to be generated across the country, independent of the systems or organisation from which it originated. One of the tasks of the National Data Dictionary Governance Board will be to define a process whereby the needed standards can be compiled published and enforced in the HSCDD, which is simply a container to hold organise and disseminate the various standards and make them available to everyone developing and using e-health applications.

Over time as the HSCDD matures these standards will help you to;

  • Avoid Waste by not developing similar standards
  • Ensure eHealth Solutions are using the same data standardisation RULES to enable interoperability
  • Stand over Quality Assurance
  • Ensure Consistent and Comparable Data
  • Provide a foundational building block for the shared care record and EHR

This is a development raw data version of the HSCDD. A glossary is available on the navigation menu to explain some of the terms used on this website. As we evolve it is anticipated more content will be added around, engagement, education and the core slainte care catalogues to improve patient care, provide value for money for the taxpayer and support the shift left agenda.
In this development website a number of raw datasets have been loaded to XIGT (HSCDD Tool) these are available to view through the navigation menu on the left hand side.
